Temple Plaque

As always, I would like to first thank my 14 followers! And thanks to everyone for all the nice comments! I sure appreciate the support and encouragement from my followers as well as my visitors!

And now on to the project! I am really excited about this one because if cost me all of 50 cents! Yes sir, I love me some cheap projects!

I got this wood plaque for 50 cents at the thrift store - score! I didn't know what I wanted to use it for when I got it so it sat in my "future projects" stash for a few months - then I decided I wanted to use my creative talents (and I use the word "talent" LOOSELY :) to make more church-related projects for my home, and especially my kids since religion is such an important part of our lives (obviously we are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints :)

So what I did is I painted the plaque and then I printed the amazing temple picture out from here (she asks that you use them for personal use only) So after I put that on the plaque I wanted to add a little something else - but I only had brown hemp, which I thought would look a little off with the black and white, so I decided to paint the hemp a nice teal color (messy!) and then "distressed" the plaque around the edges teal also.

And VOILA!

So ... what do you think??

  1. Super cute! I found these on Lil Luna & fell in love w/ them. I'm the YW president in my ward & we made these for our girls for their birthdays, except that we used our own pic of the temple and I put the current YW theme, "We Believe" instead of "I'm going there someday." I need to do a post on that . . . :)
